Willow Brook Metropolitan District

Dear Ruby Ranch Residents,

As many of you know, the State of Colorado has begun administering irrigation water rights by priority as drought conditions continue. As a result, the irrigation ditches serving Willow Brook soon will be shut off until water again becomes legally available.

While this action affects irrigation water rather than the District’s municipal water system, it marks another reminder that our community is entering a period of increased drought stress. With less irrigation, residents should expect meadows and open spaces throughout the ranch to become progressively drier, which may contribute to elevated wildfire risk as the season continues.

The Board’s emergency water conservation measures remain in effect. Conserving our municipal water supply remains one of the most important steps we can take to help preserve our community’s water resources during these conditions.

We also encourage residents to remain Firewise:

• Stay aware of changing fire conditions.
• Maintain defensible space around your home where appropriate - pay particular attention to the 0-5 foot zone to be sure there are no ignitable materials in this zone
• Use extra caution with activities that could ignite dry vegetation.
• Be prepared should fire conditions change rapidly.
