Ruby Ranch Community Update: U.S. Forest Service to Conduct Pile Burning April 24, 2025
In case you did not receive the below message directly:
US Forest Service Fire Management personnel intend to conduct pile burning operations on April 24th. Specific locations for pile burning in Ruby Ranch are on the south end of the ranch near John Longhill's home and on the North near the Lewis' home.
Ventilation rates are forecast to be highly favorable through the week which help limit smoke impacts to the community. Please monitor your email for changes to this schedule, as weather forecasts may change.
Ignitions are expected to begin around 10:00 AM. Smoke and flames may be visible from I-70, highway 9, Breckenridge, Silverthorne, Dillon, Frisco, and surrounding areas. Current conditions are favorable, and piles will be allowed to burn and smolder overnight, unattended. Fire management personnel will be on scene during the day to monitor potential smoke impacts and fuel consumption. Monitoring will also occur periodically over the next few days until the piles are out. The purpose of this pile burning is to help reduce fuel loading that occurred during hazard tree and wildfire hazard fuels reduction.
